Biocontrol: How to remove regulatory obstacles to a greener agriculture

6 March, 2025

Date: Thursday, 6 March 2025

Time: 10:00-11:30

Location: European Parliament, Brussels (room A3E-2)

Event description

As Europe redefines its Vision for Agriculture and Food, enabling biocontrol solutions must be part of the conversation. These innovative alternatives based on natural mechanisms such as plant extracts, microorganisms, and pheromones offer a safer and greener approach to crop protection. However, the current regulatory framework creates lengthy approval processes, delays innovation, and hinders farmers’ access to an enhanced toolbox, ultimately slowing down the transition to more sustainable farming.

This high-level policy event, hosted by MEP Stefan Köhler and organized by the European Landowners’ Organization (ELO) and Agriodor, will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, third countries representatives, and farmers to discuss solutions for integrating biocontrol into the EU’s long-term agricultural vision.

Join us to explore how regulatory reforms can accelerate innovation in biocontrol, ensuring that European agriculture remains competitive, resilient, and environmentally sustainable.
