WESEM
The Erasmus+ WESEM project focuses on training students, landowners, farmers, and professionals in the forestry and agricultural sectors to become advisors in ethical farm and land management. Its main goal is to promote the implementation of sustainable practices, encouraging the coexistence between agriculture and biodiversity conservation, and to fill the gap in the labour market related to the lack of professionals able to advise on issues related to nature. Additionally, it aims to support the achievement of the Wildlife Estate Label, a certification that recognizes a commitment to sustainable land management.
The program content includes an introduction to the basic principles of ecological restoration, as well as the recovery of agricultural and forest ecosystems. It also provides a detailed overview of available certifications and the benefits of obtaining the Wildlife Estate Label, both from an environmental and economic perspective.
One of the major advantages of the WESEM program is that training is available online and free of charge through its official website. Moreover, it includes the role of a mentor, who plays a key part in providing guidance and support to learners throughout their educational journey.
To validate the acquired knowledge, the program implements a system of microcredentials, which officially certify the learners’ competencies. Additionally, WESEM offers a practical toolkit based on solid scientific recommendations, designed to facilitate the implementation of sustainable strategies aligned with the criteria of the Wildlife Estate Label.
