European agriculture urges the Commission to boost access to biocontrol and low-risk products within Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

2025

Brussels, April 11, In a joint letter to the European Commission, signed by the European Landowners Organization, COPA-COGECA and supported by the Biocontrol Coalition, CropLife Europe and IBMA, the aforementioned parties are urging immediate policy action to enhance farmers’ access to biocontrol and low-risk plant protection products (PPPs) as part of a broader Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy.

As the approval period in the European Union is consistently longer than other regions, the signatories call for faster approval processes, ease provisional authorizations, enforce mutual recognition across Member States, and call upon greater support for farmer training—key steps to strengthen the sustainability, innovation, and resilience of EU agriculture.
