Rethinking arable farming in a changing climate

Climate change is one of the challenges facing the arable farmer in Europe – and an important one. There is also political and social pressure to reduce mineral fertilisers and synthetic pesticides, reduce nitrogen emissions, create space for nature and biodiversity and deliver affordable foods. Joost van Kasteren spoke to three agronomy professors about the future of crop production. “The real challenge for arable farmers is how to meet all these challenges simultaneously.”
