The Final conference of the PathFinder project aims to present and discuss the scientific results, policy outputs, and practical implications for European forest monitoring. It will showcase the innovative forest monitoring and pathway assessment system developed within the project, highlighting its contribution to consistent EU greenhouse gas reporting in the LULUCF sector.
The conference will present key outcomes, which encompass advances in field data collection, high-resolution mapping, scenario modelling, and policy analysis. It will facilitate a policy-oriented discussion on the future of forest monitoring in Europe in the light of recent decisions made by the European Parliament. Additionally, the conference will provide a platform for stakeholders, scientists, and policymakers to collaboratively explore solutions for sustaining and improving EU forest monitoring and reporting systems. Ultimately, the conference emphasises that it is possible to achieve scientifically robust, technically feasible and policy-relevant forest monitoring in Europe.
